Talking at a dialog in Dhaka’s Institution of Diploma Engineers, he said the income target set in the pending 2016-17 spending plan would be to the tune of Tk 170 billion a month or around Tk 5.6 billion a day.
The income target was altered at Tk 1,760 billion for the current 2015-16 FY spending plan.
Out of it, Tk 682.63 billion or 36.5 percent of the aggregate target was to be assembled from Value Added Tax (VAT) alone.
Account Minister AMA Muhith is angry with an expected 10 percent deficit in the income accumulation amid this FY.
The legislature has concocted diverse arrangements to enlarge income winning.
It trusts the income gaining from VAT will increment generously after the implementation of the new VAT law from July 1, however representatives are contradicting the law.
At the exchange, titled ‘The Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012’, the NBR boss said, “It (2016-17) is a tremendous spending plan, which will assume a key part in actualizing the dreams 2021 and 2041.”
He encouraged income officers to change their mentality to accomplish the budgetary targets.

Alluding to businesspeople, Rahman said, “They would prefer not to spend Tk 3 to pay an assessment of Tk 1.”
